STEMCO Duroline Announces Launch Of New Shoe Kits And Brake Hardware

(LONGVIEW, TEXAS - December 18, 2009) STEMCO Duroline is pleased to announce the launch of new shoe kits and brake hardware kits to the commercial vehicle market in North America.  Several months ago, STEMCO Duroline announced the launch of its high performance friction material utilizing the proprietary “Wave Process” which delivers superior stopping performance, longer life, reduced noise and reduced drum wear.   Now that same high performance friction material is available on new shoes in the form of brake wheel kits including heavy duty brake hardware kits.

The value and performance of new brake shoes is superior to re-using cores for a number of reasons. New brake shoes, along with in-spec drums, cams, cam bushings, consistent automatic slack adjusters, and new brake hardware provide an excellent foundation for brake balance.  In addition, new brake shoes provide the correct tolerances for consistent tables, cams and anchor tolerances.  STEMCO Duroline brake shoes are e-coated and stand up to 1,000 hours of salt spray testing which is double the OEM specifications for corrosion resistance under environmental conditions.

STEMCO Duroline brake shoes are seam welded and use a thicker platform, web and base.  The shoes withstand 3,000 pound weld strength testing compared to competitors which average 1,000 to 1,500 pound testing.  New brake shoes eliminate the cost of maintaining a “core bank” including inventory shrinkage associated with bad or missing cores.  New shoes also eliminate the handling costs of cores, costs associated with preparing the shoes for relining and environmental concerns. STEMCO Duroline Brake Shoes last longer and decrease vehicle down-time and maintenance costs.

STEMCO Duroline maintains a strong commercial vehicle focus, superior product technology and an outstanding reputation for training and customer support.  STEMCO’s 45 member fleet-based technical sales team is available to assist customers with the repair and selection of brake products appropriate to their needs. The sales team will provide on-site foundation brake training to maximize both the life of the braking components and vehicle safety.
