Innovative Auto-Torq axle fastener is one of 12 award recipients
DETROIT (April 24) – At the 2025 Automotive News PACE Awards ceremony in Detroit, STEMCO — an Enpro company (NYSE: NPO) and manufacturer of heavy-duty components and solutions for commercial vehicles—earned a prestigious PACE award in the category of Drivetrain and Suspension. This is STEMCO’s first year participating in the PACE Awards program, marking a significant milestone for the company.
The award highlights STEMCO’s innovative Auto-Torq® axle fastener, which is designed to streamline wheel end installation without complex processes or specialty tools. Auto-Torq securely applies the optimum clamp load on the bearings to minimize wear and maximize service life. As a result, technicians can have more confidence in their installation, and fleet managers can have peace of mind with their fleet performance.
“We’re honored to be recognized with this award,” said Chip Stuhr, president of STEMCO. “It not only shows our commitment to innovation, but more importantly, our mission to make the roadways safer. With a streamlined product like Auto-Torq, we’re helping the industry achieve a new level of confidence and safety.”
STEMCO joined 11 other award recipients at the award ceremony in Detroit. Celebrating its 30th year, the PACE Awards—founded by Automotive News and Ernst & Young in 1995—honor innovation, technological advancement, and business performance in the automotive industry.
One of many examples of real-world performance of Auto-Torq is an agreement with Great Dane to feature the Auto-Torq as a standard component on all Great Dane trailers. According to an announcement in 2023, the partnership will “promote safety and simplify wheel end component installation”.
