STEMCO, an EnPro Industries company, announced today that it has formed a joint venture with Tramec, LLC, owner of the original Crewson automatic brake adjuster (ABA). The JV, STEMCO Crewson, LLC, will provide automatic brake adjusters to the commercial vehicle market worldwide. Tramec, LLC, based in Iola, KS, has over thirty years of experience in the design, manufacture and assembly of air brake systems and electrical products.
The STEMCO Crewson product line will offer several unique inventions such as the patented “Auto Check™” feature that allows the fleet to quickly and visually determine if the brakes are in proper adjustment. Clearance sensing for more accurate brake adjustment is an advanced feature of the STEMCO Crewson ABA. Other innovations include “Cam Guard” which is a highly effective lubrication system that eliminates seizing and corrosion and a patented installation template used for precise installation every time.
The joint venture combines the partners’ strong commercial vehicle focus and superior product technology with outstanding reputations for training and customer support. It will utilize STEMCO’s 45 member fleet-based technical sales team to assist customers with the selection and training on foundation brake products appropriate to their needs. Training will allow fleets to maximize the life of the braking system and enhance vehicle safety.
